Fleece Ferret Hammock

October 7th, 2009

When owning a ferret a fleece hammock is a must have; ferrets love to comfortable and really enjoy a fleece hammock. They come in every shape and pattern imaginable and can be found as a single size which is perfect for just one ferret or in a larger size which is good for more than one ferret.

The installation of a fleece ferret hammock is very easy. They come with four clips that are easily attachable to the top of their cage. These clips are attached to the end of straps that are to be connected at each corner of the hammock.

A fleece ferret hammock can come in many designs and styles. Some are made flat while other are more curved to allow a ferret to sleep more comfortable. The type that is chosen will all depend on the ferret. If you have a small ferret, one that is made too deep can be hard to get out of. If you have a large ferret, a hammock that is flat will not work because the ferret can fall right out. The size of the fleece hammock has to be the right size for the ferret.

Many times, ferrets like their fleece hammock to be hung higher in their cage so they can crawl up to it and snuggle for a nap. Other ferrets may not like the idea of crawling up high to rest. Some fleece swings have swinging capabilities. If it does, make sure there is enough room in the cage for the ferret to swing and not get hurt by hitting the sides of the cage.

The best place to find a fleece ferret hammock is online. There are an endless amount of online stores and auction sites selling them. The price can vary based on each hammock and its size and style. An average cost of a fleece ferret hammock is around $20.

If you love your ferret and want to provide them the best environment to live in, a fleece ferret hammock is a necessity for the cage. The ferret will get plenty of good, cozy and safe sleep in the hammock and have fun playing in it too.

Pet Hammock

October 7th, 2009

People seem to be easier to train then dogs about learning to find a suitable place to lie down. Of course, we all have family members who choose to use the floor in front of the television set than the couch. But, when we go outdoors we usually choose a hammock hung between two trees or a glider to sit rather than on the wet grass.

The same situation occurs with our pets: introducing the pet hammock.
Most of the time, pets lounge indoors wherever they choose unless they have been trained to use a doggies bed. But, for the most part pets are allowed to rest on couches and floors. But, when our best friends go outdoors. do we really want them lying on grass or cement? Our pets are like us. Lying on cold grass can make us sick, give us grass stains or make our arthritis impossible to bear.

Our pets can also get sick from lying on grass, get grass mites in their fur and make their joints ache. A reasonable solution is a pet hammock. A pet hammock is different from a people hammock in that the size of the hammock has to be suitable to our pets size.
The hammock has to be easily reached by our pet and has to be of a fabric that our pets will like to lie on. Pet hammocks can be found in pet stores or you can make one for your own pets by using two heavy outdoor pots. Just tie rope to one pot and to the other making sure that it is taut and a little above ground. You can use a favorite doggies or kittie stuffed cushion or a light weight canvas and tie it to the rope. Your hammock will be your pets outdoor seat and a safe one.

Cat Hammock

If you are looking for something fun and exciting for your cat or kitten, a cat hammock may be something to consider. There are many different kinds and prices to fit any budget.

Before purchasing a cat hammock, here are some things you may want to consider:
Do you want something covered or open?
Is the hammock going to be for indoor or outdoor use?

The first type of cat hammock I am going to discuss with you comes with a wood stand. It is comparable to a bar stool, but instead of a seat, the hammock sits on top. Depending on where you place it, this type may be best for the summer-time. However, there is an option to get the hammock piece double sided; one side being fleece and the other side, microfiber. This type is great for cats who do not like being confined, giving them very easy access to get in and out of the hammock.

Another great option is the Snoozepal by Cat Above. It has a fleece hammock that comes inside a heavy-duty cardboard box, and there are windows on either side of the box. This is great for cats who like to have their own little space, but still be able to see what’s going on around them. This one is also great, because it gives your cat the option to get on top of the box as well. Since the cardboard is smooth, your cat won’t be tempted to use it as a scratching post.

Some fun outdoor ideas come from the brands Kittywalk and Baza. Kittywalk has many cabana covers to choose from that work great for outdoor use; keeping your cat cool in the shade during summer. Baza has a very soft scratching post that has a hammock sitting on top.

The amount of cat hammock products out there seems endless. Just by browsing the web, you will come to find that there are hundreds of items to choose from. I’m sure you will be able to find something that fits into your specific needs.

Ferret Hammock

October 7th, 2009

As any ferret owner can attest, ferrets love to nap and are particularly fond of cozy, somewhat enclosed spots for sleeping. Ferret hammocks provide the perfect sleeping spot, as relaxing as any human hammock, and can also serve as one more climbing toy for ferrets to play on.

Ferret hammocks are readily available, both online and in local pet stores, and come in a variety of sizes, price ranges, and materials. A basic ferret hammock can cost as little as $5, while more complicated ones run closer to $20. Some have simple clips to hook to the top of the cage, while others have their own standing frames, much like some human hammocks. While different ferrets have distinct preferences for materials, in general ferret hammocks made from fleece seem to be the most popular.

The most basic ferret hammocks are a single layer of material that is clipped or tied to the top of the cage. Since ferrets like to sleep in dark, enclosed space, though, sleep sacks, which are like hammocks crossed with sleeping bags, are quite popular. These sleep sacks have two layers of fabric, with the top layer folding over to form a sort of envelope or pouch in which the ferrets can nest.

Patterns are even available online, for knitting, crocheting, or sewing a ferret hammock. It’s not unusual to make a basic homemade ferret hammock from an old shirt or towel, with no sewing whatsoever.

Whatever type of ferret hammock you choose, your ferret is sure to enjoy this new addition to its cage.
